A mother repeatedly told shop staff she had paid for goods she had stolen.

Michelle Daniels, 28, of Everton Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to theft of £120 of shopping from B & M Bargains.

She was sentenced to a four-week curfew from 8pm to 6am and ordered to pay £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Daniels and a friend went into the store on Vicarage Lane on February 14. Daniels stood by her friend with a trolley containing goods, while the friend paid for items.

A staff member asked Daniels if she had paid for the items in her trolley. She said yes and wheeled it to the car park.

At the car park she was challenged again and again denied taking the items.

Daniels eventually admitted theft. She said she had not gone into the store intending to steal.
