Mercy mission ends in breach of order

A hotel manager ended up under arrest when he allowed his former girlfriend to live with him.

Anthony Keeling took pity on the mother of his children as she had nowhere else to live and by doing so broke a court order.

Keeling, 29, of Bairstow Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order and possession of cannabis.

He was fined £150 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates who ordered the destruction of the drugs.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client’s former girlfriend, who was from Oldham, had turned up out-of-the blue at the hotel Bairstow was managing in Blackpool.

She was the mother of his children and she told him she had nowhere to live so he had taken her in, even though he knew it was wrong and he could get into trouble.

An application had now been made to have the restraining order removed.
