St Annes Ladies Lifeboat Guild, based at the lifeboat station on the town’s promenade, has seen membership numbers almost halve in the past 10 years.

Though not threatened with closure, the guild hope to gather fresh support from Fylde folk.

Chairman Jean Tranter said: “We meet once a month at the lifeboat station in St Annes and hold two or three major fund raising events a year.

“On average we raise between £300 and £500 per event for the RNLI.

“We’re not just looking for young members, anybody is welcome to join.”
