Meeting called to get Tram Sunday support

They have called a special meeting to give people more details on how to help.

The session, billed as a Cultivation Evening, takes place at the North Euston Hotel on Wednesday November 18, beginning at 5.30pm.

The festival has been running in the town for more than thirty years and is one of the highlights of the calendar, attracting up to 70,000 people into the town.

Organisers say the festival makes an estimated £2m impact to the town’s economy.

In the last two years the committee for the event, whose official name is the Fleetwood Festival of Transport, have also struck up a partnership with arts body LeftCoast to add the SpareParts Arts Festival to the programming.

This has brought a number of national and international artists to Fleetwood, adding a new dimension to the day.

Now the organisers are now on the hunt for additional individuals to join the voluntary committee who work throughout the year to make the day a success.

They are looking for a range of skills including public relations, marketing, social media, web, health and safety, merchandising and volunteer management.

Robert Brown, chairman of Fleetwood Festival of Transport, said: “We have a great team who organise the festival every year but we are looking for some extra people who can add specific skills to the table.

“All of us are really passionate about Fleetwood and Tram Sunday and we want to hear from people who share our enthusiasm. An incredible amount of effort goes into making this free event happen, but we still need more dedicated people who can put their time in to help it go from strength to strength.”

The organisers are also seeking businesses who would like to support the event either with sponsorship or in the form of ‘in-­kind’ support.

The festival already has a strong relationship with principal sponsor Chris Allen Garages and Freeport Fleetwood both of whom see the benefits to the whole town.
