The search for the cutest kid on the Fylde coast is finally over.

All parents know their child is cute but now one proud mum has spoken of her delight at finding out the rest of the Fylde coast agrees with her.

The votes have been counted and the winner of The Gazette’s Cute Kids 2013 competition has been named as 16-month-old Ryley Jones.

Mum Jo Irving said she was stunned to discover her son had managed to beat more than 100 youngsters to claim the coveted title.

His bright eyes and cheeky grin managed to win over readers, who voted for the child they wanted to win.

She said: “We were absolutely over the moon.

“I didn’t even ask what he had won – I was just so glad he won. This is the first competition we have entered him for so it was quite nice for him to be in his first one and win it.”

Ryley will now receive a gift voucher and a large canvas of his winning portrait for his proud parents to show off at home.

Jo, 31, of Park Road, said she and her partner Bobby Jones, 32, were delighted when they heard their son had been crowned the cutest child on the Fylde coast.

She added: “All our friends and family voted so we were hoping he would win but we weren’t sure if he would.

“Every parent thinks their child is gorgeous but we were very pleased when we found out he won.

“I want to thank all my family and friends who voted for Ryley – I am thrilled to bits he has won.”

And now the family has a taste for success, they could be tempted to use Ryley’s winning smile to try to scoop up a few more prizes in the 

Jo added: “I’ll keep my eyes open but I haven’t seen any more competitions.

“But I think if one comes up then I will probably enter him again.”

The Cute Kids 2013 competition was open to youngsters across the Fylde coast up to the age of five.

After receiving more than 100 entries, the contestants were whittled down over several weeks based on the votes of readers.
