Mary goes down memory lane for 100th birthday

A Fylde woman enjoyed a message from the Queen and a party to mark her 100th birthday.

The New Thursby Nursing Home on Clifton Drive North, St Annes, pulled out all the stops to honour resident Mary Wilkinson.

Mary’s daughter Juliet and son-in-law Malcolm arranged a champagne buffet to mark the occasion, and entertainment by 1940s tribute singer Lilli De Carlo.

The mayor of Fylde, Kevin Eastham, attended the party to present Mary with the Queen’s birthday card and a bouquet of flowers.

Her cake was also special – reflecting her lifelong passion for ballroom dancing.
