Marty McFly the newborn squirrel monkey was found clinging to his mother’s back by a group of zoo keepers when they came in to work on Tuesday morning.

The tiny monkey was named after the famous time-travelling hero as October 21 marked the day he crashed into the future in ‘Back to the Future Part II’.

Marty will spend the first 10 weeks of his life on his mother’s back eating fruit, seeds and nuts before he is able to leap from branch to branch on his own.

Blackpool Zoo staff announced the birth on their various social media accounts.

A spokesperson for the zoo posted: “We’re still trying to work out whether he arrived by stork or time-travelling DeLorean.”
