Marton teen says goodbye to her locks in the name of charity

Charlotte Goodson, from Marton, had her crowning glory cut to donate her locks to the Little Princess Trust.

The charity supplies and funds wigs made of real hair to children who have hair loss as a result of cancer treatment or other illnesses.

She has also managed to raise more than £550 for Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens.

The Baines Primary School student had her hair cut off on Tuesday at Ethos hairdressers on Whitegate Drive.

Her mum, Jenny Goodson-Clark, is proud of her daughter’s decision and said she found out about the charity on YouTube.

Jenny said: “As a family we are immensely proud of Charlotte and fully supportive of this extremely kind act.

“Charlotte heard about donating hair from a friend at school, and then found info on the internet. She also thought it would be good to try and fund raise as well as just donating her hair.”

Charlotte said: “I want to make someone happy by being able to have a real hair wig because they have lost their hair because they are poorly.”

Jenny said she got emotional when she heard what Charlotte was planning to do.

She said: “I lost my mum 14 years ago to cancer and she was very close to my hear. I think she would be very proud of what Charlotte has done especially as she has not been bothered in the slightest in having her hair cut off.”

Wanda Dalby, who cut Charlotte’s hair, said: “She was brilliant and it is such a good cause as well.”
