The jury in the trial of a man accused of carrying out a fatal attack on a Blackpool street was resuming its deliberations today.

Benjamin Gayton denies a manslaughter charge over the death of a passerby, said to have been punched on Queen street in the early hours last March.

Forty four years old Anthony Roberts sustained a head injury, having fallen to the ground and struck his head. He died the following month.

Gayton, 27, of Rodney Walk, Grange Park, Blackpool denies unlawfully killing him.

He told the court he had approached Mr Roberts and his friend after they began shouting at the end of the street. He insisted he told Mr Roberts to take the other man home, but never struck out.
