POLICE are hunting for a sex attacker after a woman was assaulted in broad daylight in Blackpool town centre.

A 38-year-old woman was walking along Deansgate when she was pulled into an alleyway by a man.

He offered her jewellery in exchange for sex, which she refused, before he kissed her neck and molested her.

The man was disturbed by the sight of three or four other women who were sat in the alleyway. The victim then managed to escape.

It is unclear whether the women were aware of what was happening and they have yet to be traced by police.

The attack happened at around 2pm on Thursday, August 25.

The man is said to be of Egyptian/Turkish origin, around 45-years-old, 5ft 5in tall, stocky build with a shaven head. He spoke with broken English and was wearing a blue shirt and a distinctive long gold chain with a large “eagle” pendant.

PC Andy Gilmour, of Blackpool Police, said: “This was a nasty assault and the woman was left shaken.

“It happened on a particularly busy street and I’m certain somebody must have seen something. If anybody has any information I would urge them to come forward.

“In particular, I’m very keen to speak with the group of women who were also in the alleyway.

“They could provide us with information which is crucial to this inquiry.”
