A visitor who aimed to take drugs in the toilets of Blackpool’s Jaggy Thistle bar left after doorstaff became suspicious of him.

James Ure was then seen throwing items away in a nearby alley, which were found to be a small amount of cocaine and some cannabis cigarettes.

Ure, a 36-year-old fitter, of West Main Lane, Whitburn, Lothian, Scotland, pleaded guilty to two offences of illegal drug possession.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said staff at the Jaggy Thistle became suspicious that Ure had drugs in the gents toilets on June 6.

Ure refused to be searched, left the bar and was seen discarding items in an alley.

Ure was fined £150 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
