Man treated for burns after suspected gas blast
A man was treated for burns after a suspected gas explosion at a house in Blackpool.
Three fire crews raced to Conway Avenue in the Normoss area of the resort at around 8pm on Tuesday after reports that one or more people could be trapped in the semi-detached property following a blast.
When they arrived they found a man was being treated by paramedics, but no-one else had been hurt.
The front upstairs and downstairs bay window had collapsed, but there was no fire.
A fire brigade spokesperson said: “The possibility of a gas explosion is being investigated.
“The 999 call reported an explosion at a semi-detached house and that someone might be trapped inside.
“Three fire engines and crews responded (two from Blackpool, one from South Shore).
“The upper and lower storey bay windows at the front of the house had collapsed and a man was being treated for burns by ambulance paramedics when firefighters arrived.
“There was no fire to extinguish and no other casualties were reported.”
