A man threw a rubbish bin at his former girlfriend after punching her and pushing her to the floor.
Jaymie Kelshaw, 25, of Hockley Place, Grange Park, pleaded not guilty to assault and causing damage, but was found guilty of both offences after a trial in his absence.
He was sentenced to 20 weeks’ jail, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay compensation of £100 to his victim, plus £250 for the damage he caused by Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said Kelshaw damaged his ex’s garage door by pushing it inwards, and he then punched a wing mirror on her mother’s car on September 15.
On September 18 the ex was in her garage when Kelshaw arrived, tried to grab her phone then punched her in the side of the face. He pushed her to the ground and threw a bin at her.
