A man stuffed three sirloin steaks and four legs of lamb into a holdall and walked out of a shop without paying.

Jonathan Louis had returned to crime after starting to take street drugs again a court was told.

Louis, unemployed, 32, of Raikes Parade, Blackpool pleaded guilty to theft.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £150 court charge with £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Louis was detained outside Sainsburys, Red Bank Road, on June 26 at 6.40pm after stealing £74 of meat. He told police he had gone into the store with the intention of stealing because he had no money.
