Man squared up to police

Police called to a report of men and women fighting in the street at Mexford Avenue were squared up to by a man.

Alan Gilmour, 47, of Grosvenor Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to breach of the peace and was bound over in the sum of £100 for 12 months by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said police received information people were fighting on Mexford Avenue, Warbreck, and young children were present on September 22 at 2.10am.

Officers went to the scene and through the open door of a house saw several distressed children.

Inside two women were screaming with one trying to restrain the other.

Gilmour walked in and squared up to an officer, who had to push him away.

He made threats of violence towards the officers and was arrested.

Gilmour admitted he had had a lot to drink and could not remember what happened.
