A man broke a window in a flat so he could climb in because he thought his partner was staying.

David Crossman, 26, could not find her, so he went to sleep but his actions had been seen by a witness who called police.

Officers found Crossman of Beach Road, Cleveleys had a knife when they came across him but he dropped it when instructed by police.

Crossman pleaded guilty to causing £500 criminal damage to the flat in Stalmine.

Leisa Splaine, defending, said the couple had been living together but there had been problems with other tenants. She said Crossman was worried that something may have happened to her.

He was given an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay the property’s landlady £500 compensation.
