A man accused of a lottery scratchcards swindle has made his first appearance at court.

Vikash Sharma, a former newsagents assistant, 32, of Caunce Street, Blackpool, is charged with stealing “£4m Gold Game” scratchcards, which sell for £10 each, and claiming prizes from winning tickets.

Sharma is alleged to have committed the offence while he worked at the News and Booze shop, Talbot Road, Blackpool, between August last year and January this year.

He was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on December 24 by District Judge James Hatton, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
