A man was found dead near North Pier in Blackpool yesterday.

Police and paramedics were called to a public toilet at Festival House, on the Promenade, shortly before 1pm.

A 44-year-old man, who has not been named, was found dead at the scene.

A passer-by reported seeing an ambulance and crime scene investigators in the area yesterday.

Police, who were called by the ambulance service, are not treating the death as suspicious.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “Shortly before 1pm yesterday, we were called to public toilets on North Pier following reports a 44-year-old man had been found deceased.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner.”

It is understood police have identified the man but have not named him publicly.

It is not clear what caused the 44-year-old’s death.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed paramedics had attended but nobody was taken to hospital.
