A 46-year-old man has died in hospital after a blaze at a house in Blackpool.
Firefighters wearing breathing appparatus went into the property in Warbreck Hill Road to bring the casualty out, but he died at the town’s Victoria Hospital just over an hour later.
Police say the blaze broke out in the semi-detached property at around 9.45am on Saturday. The cause has not yet been established.
“There were reports that someone was in the property and fire brigade personnel located a male and brought him out,” said a police spokesman.
“The air ambulance was deployed, but the casualty was taken by road with a police escort to hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 10.50am.
“His family were on the scene and were also at the hospital.
“It is a bit early to say what the cause of the blaze was. The fire brigade have deployed their fire investigation team to examine the property.”
