A MAN has been charged with attempted murder.

Andrew Castle, 61, of Holmefield Road was arrested on Saturday after police were called to his home at 7.15pm.

Castle’s wife was found with minor head injuries and taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary for treatment.

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said: “We received a phone call from a female saying she had been threatened and hit around the head with a cosh. A member of the public had intervened to help the woman.

“When police arrived, they found a man in the garden with injuries to his wrists for which he was treated at Blackpool Victoria hospital.”

Castle appeared before magistrates yesterday and was remanded in custody until March 17.
