The 22-year-old, from St Annes, was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and possessing cannabis yesterday after the white BMW he was a passenger in crashed into a concrete fence on the Promenade.

A police spokesman said the incident would be dealt with using a 'community resolution' - a course of action used by police responding to low level offences. This could include an apology to the officer who attended the scene of the crash.

The male driver of the BMW, who was taken to Blackpool Vic with non-serious injuries, will attend Blackpool police station for an interview after being released from hospital, police said.
