Man, 97, fights for life

Officers were called to a property in Blackpool Road North, St Annes around 8.30am on Sunday.

A 97-year-old man was found suffering serious injuries. Paramedics attended and the man was flown by Air Ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

A 57-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of attempted murder and is in custody waiting to be questioned by detectives.

Police said the case is being treating as an isolated incident.
