Man, 74, accused of historic sex cases

A pensioner has made his first appearance at court charged with rape offences alleged to have taken place over 40 years ago.

William Hall, 74, of Hambleton Country Park,Carr Lane, Hambleton, was bailed by Blackpool Magistrates which sent the cases against him to be heard at Preston Crown Court in September.

Hall was bailed on condition he has no contact with the alleged victim and does not enter a street in the Chadderton area of Greater Manchester.

Hall faces eight charges of raping the same woman between June 1971 and 1976.

He also faces a charge of attempted rape and two allegations of gross indecency against the same female.
