Making their minds up on front

It seems that when it comes to tourists visiting Blackpool, they just can’t make their mind up over whether it’s a good place to spend their money or not.

A survey conducted by a campaign company has found the resort’s beach to be the fourth nicest in the United Kingdom.

However, the research by Campetition also discovered the same respondents found the resort to be the most disappointing place they had visited in the country.

More than one and a half thousand people took part in the survey, run by the firm as part of its latest promotional campaign, which offers entrants the chance to win a share of more than £9,000 worth of prizes and holidays in the UK’s biggest camping competition.

Brighton, Newquay and Bournemouth beaches ranked above Blackpool’s in the poll – while Scarborough, Weymouth, St Ives, Camber Sands, Woolacombe and Skegness also made the top 10.

The other nine places described as “most disappointing” by the survey were London, Rhyl, Skegness, Newquay, Great Yarmouth, Scarborough, Manchester, Stonehenge and Margate.

However, the company believes the recent trends for domestic holidays could mean an economic boost for resorts such as Blackpool over the coming months.

A spokesman said: “With the Met Office reporting that May was the sixth month in a row of above average temperatures for the UK, and the Conservative MP Helen Grant suggesting that ‘staycations’ were a potential solution to the UK’s ongoing passport crisis, the country’s beaches are set to be busier than ever this summer.”
