Church Street in Blackpool town centre will close overnight until Sunday, April 9, while resurfacing work is carried out.
The closures, from 7pm until 6am, start tonight and are part of a £7m project to give key resort roads a major facelift.
The road will be closed from its junction with Cookson Street and Leopold Grove, with traffic diverted along Cookson Street, Talbot Road, Topping Street and Edward Street or Cookson Street, Caunce Street, Grosvenor Street, Park Road, Hornby Road, Coronation Street, Albert Road and South King Street.
Topping Street (Wood Street - Church Street), Alfred Street, and South King Street (Adelaide Street - Church Street) will be made two-way temporarily.
The programme, funded by a £6.6m grant from the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership’s Growth and £740,000 from the council, is aimed at improving the look of entrance roads to the town centre.
The council’s highways boss, Coun Fred Jackson, said: “Quite a number of the entrances into Blackpool could do with a bit of a facelift, to make sure that when people come in to the town centre they are seeing welcoming streets and vibrant businesses.
