Christopher Hinde yelled obscenities and frequently let out high-pitch screams while he was in Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

He was given a private room in the observation unit because of his vile behaviour and then lunged towards a woman paramedic, who a police officer had to drag out of the way.

Hinde, a 26-year-old former factory worker, of Central Drive, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

Presiding magistrate, David Cartain, told him: “Your behaviour was disgusting.

“It is not acceptable to the people of Blackpool or to those at the hospital.”

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police went to George Street where Hinde was lying in a garden shouting and calling people names on July 26 at 12.40am.

He appeared to be under the influence of drink and drugs and was randomly screaming at the top of his voice.

He was abusive to two women paramedics taking him to hospital and once there, kept threatening to knock people out.

Allan Cobain, defending, said his client had no real recollection of the incident.

Hinde was on medication for mental health problems and had been drinking.

He met some people smoking a rolled-up cigarette and they let him smoke some.

He was then told the cigarette contained the legal high Spice. After that he seemed to go utterly off the rails.

Hinde was fined £110 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge with £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
