The messages have been left on a bridge in between junctions three and four of the motorway, close to Cuadrilla’s fracking site on Preston New Road, and follows an expletive left last week.

The two new messages, which appeared overnight on Sunday, say ‘fracking defies logic’ and ‘water is life’

They appear to have been painted in the same blue paint as the previous expletive that was covered over by Highways England.

A spokesman from Highways England said the expletive was covered over during the weekend but more graffiti has been left since.

The said: “Once again we find people who leave messages like these very irresponsible.

“It puts themselves at risk as well as motorists using the motorway and it could possibly cause accidents.

“We will possibly need to put an overnight closure in place, however due to not being offensive material it is not a priority currently.”

Barbara Richardson, chairman of Roseacre Awarness Group, has previously condemned the graffiti but added: “We can understand people’s frustration.”
