An articulated lorry was destroyed after a fire ripped through it on a country lane.
The fire service was called to Peel Road, Marton, at around 10am yesterday, when the lorry’s engine burst into flames.
A co-driver was guiding the driver in a U-turn when he spotted flames coming from the engine.
The lorry, from Goole, Humberside, had been delivering caravans when it became engulfed in flames.
The fire happened during what was a busy morning for the emergency services, after a motorcyclist was also taken to hospital following a collision between his moped and a car during yesterday morning’s rush hour.
Police had to close a South Shore road when the moped collided with a Toyota Rav 4 car, as they both attempted to turn right on to St Luke’s Road from St Annes Road, at around 8am.
Police attended the scene and closed St Annes Road, between St Martin’s Road and St Luke’s Road, while an investigation was carried out.
The section of road re-opened at 9am and the injured man was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a driver and his passenger were treated by paramedics after the car they were in left the road and crashed into a fence.
The 22-year-old male driver and his female passenger suffered minor injuries after the red Fiat Punto went on to the embankment along Yeadon Way, Blackpool, close to the petrol station.
Firecrews from South Shore Fire Station and paramedics attended the incident, which happened at around 8.30pm on Thursday.
The pair, who were travelling towards Blackpool, were able to free themselves from the vehicle and were treated at the scene.
