Lorry driver hurt in horror field flip drama

Police, fire, and ambulance services were called just after 4pm on Monday to reports that a 12-wheeler lorry carrying top soil had lost control and crashed in a field off Peel Road.

A fire service spokesman said: “There was one driver who was trapped inside the cab.

“The fuel tank was leaking diesel oil on to the road.

“We managed to get the driver out of the vehicle and he received medical attention from the air ambulance service.

“We also stopped the diesel coming from the vehicle and cleaned up the road with the help of Chorley’s hazardous materials unit.”

A police spokesman said: “A temporary road block was put in place at the top of Peel Road.

“The driver suffered a suspected arm injury.”
