At around 9.20pm on Saturday night, four fire engines from Fulwood, Preston and Penwortham attended a heavy goods vehicle on fire on the M6 southbound at junction 32 near Broughton.

Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

The sliproad from the M55 was closed for a time, as was a lane of the M6 while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The HGV was later removed from the scene.
