Limbering up for autumn show - and a fond farewell

After many years of service, Sheila Pound has stepped down as ticket and patrons secretary of the popular am dram group.

Lynn Corlett said: “We marked the occasion with a presentation and unlike Frederic in our next show The Pirates of Penzance, she will not set out to exterminate us all now that she is free of us, but will take a well-earned rest.

Chairman Tony Alman added: “Sheila is one of those unsung people who work tirelessly to keep our shows on the road and we will miss her.”

Other changes have also taken place at Marton Operatic as they have just elected their new treasurer Ruth Aspinall, who takes on the task in addition to being house manager for the show - both essential jobs which few would take on. The show is taking shape and some of the cast - including several of the youngsters - are limbering up for the battle between police and pirates. The show runs from 16 to 20 October at Lowther Pavilion and once again the Society is supporting the RNLI. Tickets (01253) 794221.
