Blackpool’s Illuminations Switch-on ceremony will be free again this year.
Coun Graham Cain, cabinet member for tourism on Blackpool Council, made the announcement at a full meeting of the council.
He also revealed a television media partner has been secured for the flagship event.
Coun Cain told the meeting he is also set to reveal the 2015 summer show for the Opera House.
He said: “This will be coming directly from a sell out season in the West End and Blackpool will be the only place this show will be in 2015 north of London.
“I will also be making an announcement about arrangements for this year’s Lights Switch-on.
“This will include for the first time a TV media partner. I can also confirm the Friday night Switch-on will be free.”
It is the second year running admission to the show will be free, after tickets were sold for the 2013 ceremony, but the council made a loss on the event.
Previously there had been a long tradition of free entry to see the Lights switched on.
