Both services were called at 1.30pm today to a kayaker who had got into difficulty in the sea off Cleveleys. The man made his own way to shore and did not require medical attention.

RNLI and coastguard crews were then diverted to Fleetwood at 1.59pm to reports that a kite surfer was in trouble.

He was brought to shore by the lifeboat. He was not injured and was able to walk away from the scene.

Blackpool RNLI posted on social media: "One of our RNLI volunteers is getting married today and crew left the church to respond to the incident."
