Last chance to win £10k fund
The deadline for a big cash giveaway to help young people in Blackpool has been extended.
People will have until Friday to sign up to be in with a chance of winning the Swallowdale £10k Community Giveaway.
This year’s event will give a huge boost to one special cause, because for the first time ever the money will be given away as a lump sum.
Promotions and events manager Sue Bentley said: “So far we have had about 50 or 60. We obviously hope to get more. We had a couple of hundred last year.
“Some are individuals who are hoping to compete at Olympic level, and others are community groups.”
Swallowdale Children’s Trust has provided assistance to disadvantaged children living in Blackpool Fylde and Wyre for more than 100 years. The grant is open to people under the age of 25, as well as youth groups, schools, nurseries and children’s sports groups.
The running for this year’s grand prize includes Blackpool Polar Bears, which provides swimming lessons for disabled children, the Fleetwood Sea Cadets, and the Fairhaven Lake restoration project.
Sue said: “You’ve got to be in it to win it. It’s a life-changing amount of money and it could make a real difference. What do you have to lose?”
