Lancashire's new campaign for WW1 soldiers launched

Lancashire is leading the way with a campaign to commemorate the county's soldiers who served in the First World War.

There But Not There is a campaign marking the centenary of the end of the First World War and aims to raise more than £15 million for armed forces and mental health charities.

With Armed Forces Day on Saturday, organisers are launching the appeal for Lancashire residents to support the campaign by taking home their own Tommy figure.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord Shuttleworth said the campaign is a worthwhile cause and said: “We want the whole community to show their support for the charity and encourage businesses to get on board during this important year of commemoration.”

The money raised from the sale of these commemorative figures, which are made by military veterans, will be distribited between six charities.
