Blackpool South MP Gordon Marsden said: “I’m proud Blackpool has again been given the honour of hosting our North West Regional Conference.

Feedback from delegates coming here in recent years has always been good and both myself and our council colleagues hope members from across the North West will have a great weekend in Blackpool.”

He added: “I haven’t seen the final agenda for the conference, but I am sure economic and NHS issues will feature very strongly as well as concerns about policing.

“I will be there as the local MP welcoming people and we expect there to be about 1,000 people including exhibitors and delegates and that is a useful boost to the local economy.

“It keeps Blackpool in the limelight in terms of conferences big and small and everybody who comes to conference and is happy with it, goes back home as a strong ambassador for Blackpool.”

Mr Marsden, who is also Shadow Skills Minister, will also be chairing a skills forum for delegates.

He said: “This is one of the most crucial issues for Blackpool and the surrounding areas.”

It is the fifth year running the Labour Party has brought its regional conference to Blackpool.
