Kindhearted readers help grieving parents whose baby was found dead in her cot

Lorraine Barlow, 40, and husband George, 54, will say a final farewell to their three-month-old daughter Lucy on Thursday after she died suddenly in a flat off Gynn Square, Blackpool, on Monday, April 3.

The pair, who are jobless and live on £100-a-week, appealed for help in raising £120 for a funeral car, plus extra to give the infant the ‘send off she deserves’.

Lorraine’s online fundraising page had raised £135 yesterday, with one £50 donation from Tim Leech.

He wrote: “Read about your sad loss on [The] Gazette online today. May God bless and care for baby Lucy in Heaven and for you, Lorraine and George – her loving parents – as well as family and friends. I feel for your loss. Peace, love and hugs.”

A police investigation into little Lucy’s death remains ongoing after a post-mortem examination failed to say what caused it.

Emergency services were called to Northmount Apartments when she was found in ‘cardiac arrest’ at noon.
