The pupils from South Shore Academy collected non-perishable food items to give for the benefit of people in need visiting Blackpool Food Bank.

The children delivered their goods to Revoe Mosque on Thursday, to celebrate Eid al-Fitr - marking the end of the month of Ramadan, where Muslims fast.

The secondary school, on St Annes Road, was inspired to give the donations after hearing of nearby Revoe Community Academy pupils also donating food parcels.

In an effort to “at least double donations” the schools this year teamed up.

Emma Greenwood, who organised South Shore’s involvement, said: “When I heard about this, I just felt we had to get involved.

“Anything we can do to help in local communities is so rewarding.

“I hope next year we can give even more.”
