Kind donations for mayoral charities

It was celebration time at the Mayor's Parlour in Blackpool when guests handed some generous donations to the mayor's charities this year.

The Mayor of Blackpool Coun Ian Coleman invited guests who came armed with kind cheque donations for his the charities he is supporting this year – Blackpool Carers Centre and the Royal British Legion Club.

Staff from Ma Kelly’s donated £3,518, which was then topped up to £5,000 by owners Paul and Paula Kelly.

And Stanley Park Golf Club donated £260 from a charity golf day.

Coun Coleman said: “It was a wonderful morning and we had some fantastic donations.

“Members of Blackpool Magicians Club were there and we had some fun when famous magician Mark Raffles pretended to pick pocket me!

“90 per cent of the money we raise this year will go to Blackpool Carers Centre and 10 per cent will go to the Royal British Legion Club which needs our help to keep the premises open.”

Jonathan Barnes, who attended the event, said: “I had the privilege of being at the Mayor’s Parlour.

“What a wonderful morning we all had.

“It was lovely to see the magicians, Ma Kelly’s and Stanley Park Golf Club.

“There were lots of great presentations for the Mayor of Blackpool supporting the Mayor’s charities.

“It was also very nice to see the Mayoress Mavis Coleman.”
