Jobs in store as Co-op takes My Local site

A total of 14 new jobs have been created as the Co-op opens a new food store in Blackpool tomorrow.

And staff at the convenience store are pledging to support the community to build on the sponsorship of a colour station at the recent Blackpool Colour Splash.

The new shop takes the place of the former My Local store on Warley Road.

The company said it has invested £320,000 in the store which will bear the firm’s retro, blue clover leaf logo and have an in store bakery and ATM.

Two members of the team, James Watson and Ione Clayton, will work to foster involvement in community activities, from local fundraising initiatives to helping to understand meet community needs including support for the British Red Cross, The Co-op’s new charity partnership which will help to tackle social isolation and loneliness.

Store manager Tim Rudd said: “We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Blackpool and delighted that we have a fantastic new food store with which to serve the community – it is an exciting time for the whole team.”
