Jobs joy as Blackpool Range opens

Deputy Mayor of Blackpool, Coun Gary Coleman and Deputy Mayoress Coun Debbie Coleman were on hand to officially open the new Range store in Blackpool.

The store at the site of the former Homebase in Waterloo Road created 80 jobs for the area from warehousing to managerial roles.

The store has 16 departments, including gardening, DIY, arts and crafts and homeware sections.

The Range is owned and run by Plymouth-based entrepreneur Chris Dawson and is currently going through a period of expansion and now has over 120 stores across the UK.

Chris Dawson said: “Opening a new store is always an exciting moment for the company and Blackpool is no exception.

“We feel that The Range is a unique shopping experience that has something for everyone and are sure that the new store will be a welcome addition to the local area”. At the opening there were giveaways for the first 50 people in the queue, including a star prize for the first in line, plus craft demonstrations.
