They first met at the tender age of 16 as they lived on the same street in Blackpool, just four doors away from each other.

As teenagers they hung around with the same group of friends and romance blossomed on Christmas Day 2006 - and they have been together since.

They booked their wedding day for August 3 and everything was going well until Sophie found herself caught up in the liquidation of bridal shop Dan Kerr.

Sophie, 26, who works at Co-Op in Layton said: “The day they went into administration I was packing to take our children on a family holiday, and my mum rang me to tell me what had happened - I couldn’t believe it!

“For the majority of my holiday all I could think about was what we was going to do, as we had got the suits from there too and we had paid the remaining balance the week before.

“I eventually got a call from the liquidators who were so so helpful saying they had my dress!

“But obviously we couldn’t have the suits as they were hired.

“The day we got back I went and picked my dress up and I was so extremely grateful at how lucky I had been, as I know most people got nothing back.”

The search for replacement suits was on and were eventually sought from Lottie’s Bridal Wear.

There were plenty of happy surprises as their wedding day dawned. On the morning of the wedding, the Layton couple’s eldest daughter, Ava, gave Sophie a Pandora charm from Scott with the words ‘just married’ engraved on it. The best man’s speech was one to remember for the couple as it was touching and Sophie’s best friend Emma Walker flew over from Fuerteventura to be maid of honour.

Sophie said: “I thought the day went really, really well considering we didn’t have the best of times planning and organising it.

“But after it was all over I just wanted to do it again.

“None of it could have been possible without the love, help and support we received from both our family and close friends and all the suppliers, companies and people who helped create our day.

“Caron our photographer was amazing throughout the whole day and she stayed longer in the evening which I really appreciated.

“It was the most special day of all, so I would just like the say a big thank you to everyone.”

Scott, 28 and a manager at Firwood Builders Merchants added: “The wedding day was brilliant!

“Sophie, the bridesmaids and our flower girls all looked absolutely stunning. The staff and everyone at Singleton Lodge did everything they could to make our wedding just perfect.

“Apart from a downpour in the morning, the day couldn’t have gone any better.”
