The event, which is once again sponsored by Beaverbrooks The Jewellers, is now in its 37th year and is open to runners from the age of 11 of all abilities.

Noted for being one of the fastest 10km runs due to its flat course, the run attracted more than 2,000 participants last year and raised more than £50,000 for the hospice on Low Moor Road, Bispham.

Events fundraiser Kayleigh Penn said: “The Fun Run is one of our events which everyone really looks forward to; whether they’re part of the fundraising team, volunteers or participants.

“There’s always such a positive atmosphere and it’s just a lot of fun on the day.

“It’s always so nice to see such a variety of runners at the start line, from the elite runners to those just having fun.

“Whether you’re planning a serious run or a bit of fun, everyone taking part on the day will be doing so to help us provide compassionate care to those reaching the end of their lives both here at Trinity Hospice and in the community, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
