Investigation underway into fire at derelict hotel on Blackpool Promenade

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire, which covered four floors of the former Hacketts York House hotel on Queens Promenade, has yet to be established.

Six fire engines were mobilised at 5.13pm after a fire was reported at the derelict hotel at the junction with King Edward Avenue.

An LFRS spokesman said: "No injuries were reported and the police were called as the fire was of suspicious origin.

"There will be a joint investigation between ourselves and the police."

Fire crews from from Blackpool, Bispham, South Shore, Fleetwood and St Annes tackled the fire which was reported across four floors of the 100m x 30m seafront building.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

Crews remained at the scene for just under two hours, but no injuries were reported.
