Blackpool could become one of the first towns in the UK to experiment with changes to the driving test.
Later this month instructors across the Fylde coast will vote on making changes to the test, including the dropping of some manoeuvres such as the three-point turn and reverse around the corner.
Blackpool is one of 20 test areas asked to look at the proposals by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA).
John Guest, chairman of the Blackpool Driving Instructors Association said: “At the moment it is the DSA which will guide us on what changes we could make.
“Some changes include adding manoeuvres, such as reversing from a parking bay, while satellite navigation may be used more to guide learners.”
Mr Guest said instructors will meet on January 19 at the Blackpool Driving Test Centre in Warbreck Hill Road to discuss the plans.
