The opening of an inquest into the death of a Blackpool man near North Shore has revealed his medical cause of death as drowning.
Ashley West, 26, died after entering the water close to Uncle Tom’s Cabin on July 13.
The utilities worker, of Cornwall Avenue, Blackpool, was found by RNLI teams.
Speaking at Blackpool Town Hall, pictured above, Karen Poole, coroner’s court officer, said: “Mr West went out with his friend to collect a takeaway and it took them along the promenade.
“He stopped off and entered the sea. His friend called Mr West’s girlfriend. It was quickly established Mr West was face down in the water.”
Mrs Poole added it was high tide when Mr West entered the water.
The inquest has been adjourned until November 11.
