India venture for Blackpool fuel security firm

A Blackpool fuel safety and security specialist is targeting yet more overseas sales after signing a ground-breaking deal in India.

Family firm TISS Ltd, which recently moved to new offices on Avroe Crescent at Squires Gate in the enterprise zone, has launched a joint venture company.

It has teamed up with KGK Engineering in India to form TISS-KGK Security Systems Pvt. Ltd.

The announcement comes as TISS also reveals that during the past 12 months, more than 180,000 TATA vehicles in India have been fitted with the TankSafe anti-siphon device whihc protects trucks fuel tanks for accidental spillages or theft.

This move came after an OEM factory-fit production agreement with the Indian vehicle manufacturing giant.

Over the past two years, fuel security experts at TISS and its joint venture partners KGK Engineering have been working on a TankSafe device which can meet the demands of an expanding Indian market. Ryan Wholey, chief executive officer for TISS, said: “We are delighted to sign a joint venture partnership with KGK Engineering.

“India, like many countries, relies heavily on its commercial vehicle market and we intend to use this new company to extend our market reach throughout India and beyond.”

Ashok Rao, managing director of KGK Engineering, added: “As soon as we met TISS we knew their TankSafe anti-siphon was a game-changer for the commercial vehicle market in India.

“We look forward to working with the TISS team to provide fuel security and safety to thousands of vehicles across the country.”

TISS was established in 2001 by a team of former hauliers with over 40 years’ experience in the industry.

It has more than 60 different TankSafe models enabling fitment to all trucks, vans, plant equipment and refrigerated trailers, and sell in over 60 different territories globally to 2,017 customers worldwide including DHL, Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

It this year won the Queen’s Award for Innovation.
