As winter draws near Mother Nature has one last spectacular golden display before the cold sets in.

The beautiful colours of autumn and the sights of animals preparing for a long winter have delighted young and old on the Fylde over the past few days.

In Blackpool’s Stanley Park the swans have returned to the UK early, signaling a bitter winter according to experts.

However, the pleasant autumnal weather is not set to last.

An early weather warning has been issued across the UK as experts forecast the worst winter in half-a-century.

A combination of freak conditions including the most powerful El Nino on record and changes in air pressure over the Arctic are set to cause contribute to the icy conditions.

Until then, lovers of the outdoors are content to enjoy the mild weather, the beautiful hues of the autumnal leaves and to watch nature stocking up its larder ready for the cold blast of winter.
