COMEDIAN Dave Spikey was in town for the Leyland Christmas lights switch on.
Strong crowds turned up despite the bad weather for the event on Saturday evening.
South Ribble Mayor Mary Green said: “It was great, a bigger event than last year.”
And she praised all the volunteers and helpers who made it possible.
She added: “We had some fairground rides for the children and a Santa’s grotto near the market.
“Dave Spikey came and switched on the lights with me – the crowd seemed to like him.

“If that attracts people into Leyland then the more the merrier.
“All in all, I don’t think we did too badly given the weather.”
