A husband repeatedly threatened to kill himself after his wife said their marriage was over.

Paul Miller later admitted he had pretended he was going to commit suicide in an attempt to manipulate his wife.

Miller, a 38-year-old university student studying acupuncture, formerly of Preston Old Road, Marton, now living at Lineker Drive, Southport, pleaded guilty to harassment of his estranged wife.

He was bailed for pre-sentence reports and will be sentenced at a later date by Blackpool magistrates.

Steven Townley, defending, said: “He was given a mixed message.

“First the relationship was over, then it was on again.

“Over this time his mental health was poor and he had something of a breakdown.”
